Removed Comment You mean that they store your private key "encrypted" and that it is encrypted by using served JS to the user? Do you know how many users would actually be technically capable of detecting an obfuscated modified JS that they randomly send should they become a target? by John Richard
reason: conspiracy theories
1M
mod
Removed Comment TIL that being privacy conscious and security aware means your involved in collusion and illegal shit. Maybe you should tell that to Proton VPN users who primarily use their service to seed copyrighted torrents in countries where it is illegal. Oh, but you don't care about them... just some rando who hurt your fee fees for being honest. BTW I never said they should deny court orders. I was responding to someone who claimed that they answer no one except their customers. I claimed that even if they answer a court order, then hijacking your account and private key shouldn't be as simple as serving modified JS to their users. by John Richard
reason: rambling
1M
mod
Removed Comment They answer to government orders quite frequently, so stop pretending that they are above the law first of all... all it takes is one change to their served JS mail client and voila now they have your private key too which is already saved server-side. God, some people want to be had. by John Richard

Removed Comment I don't care. Wait, strike that: I DON'T GIVE A FUCK, I want a Drive Linux app. I can read my mails very fine in a browser, thank you - but my files? I need them in my filesystem please. Yeah, I saw the video with the boss on TLE channel, "ooh it's so hard because diversity in Linux". I don't care. Do a flatpak limited to ext4 and btrfs. Do an rpm for Fedora and deb for 'buntues for all I care. Get us limited support instead of whining about impossible unlimited integration. I am not happy being on a Year Plan without any hope of a solution in a timespan of a full year. by ReallyZen

Removed Comment Proton doesn't open source their app although they are proud of it and state that they are open sourcs. The apps can't easily be installed via fdroid or obtainium. The service isn't compatible with other stuff. Mail is a simple basic thing yet you can't create an event offline with the official app, nor can you use another app with it. Once you go proton, you are somewhat vendor locked in. by @greenmike@programming.dev

Removed Comment Here's what ChatGPT has to say about your list: That's a great question! Comparing and contrasting different routers can be tricky, but I'll do my best to help you out. Here are the best three routers from your list, based on their features, performance, and customer reviews: - TP-Link Archer AX3000 | 4 Stream Dual-Band WiFi 6 Wireless Router | up to 3 Gbps Speeds: This router is one of the best Wi-Fi 6 routers on the market, offering fast and reliable wireless connectivity for multiple devices. It has a dual-band design that supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies, with a total bandwidth of up to 3 Gbps. It also has four external antennas that provide a wide coverage area and reduce interference. It has one gigabit WAN port, four gigabit LAN ports, and one USB 3.0 port for sharing files and printers. It supports advanced features such as MU-MIMO, OFDMA, Beamforming, and WPA3 security. It has a user-friendly web interface and a mobile app that let you easily set up and manage your network. It also works with Alexa and IFTTT for voice control and smart home integration. This router has received excellent ratings from customers who praised its speed, stability, and range. - NETGEAR - Nighthawk AC1900 WiFi Router, 1.9Gbps (R6900): This router is another high-performance option that supports the Wi-Fi 5 standard. It has a dual-core processor that delivers fast and smooth wireless performance for gaming, streaming, and browsing. It has a dual-band design that supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies, with a total bandwidth of up to 1.9 Gbps. It also has three external antennas that provide a strong signal and eliminate dead zones. It has one gigabit WAN port, four gigabit LAN ports, and one USB 3.0 port for sharing files and printers. It supports advanced features such as MU-MIMO, QoS, Beamforming, and WPA2 security. It has a web interface and a mobile app that let you easily set up and manage your network. It also works with Amazon Alexa for voice control. This router has received very good ratings from customers who appreciated its speed, reliability, and features. - TP-Link Archer AX1500 WiFi 6 Dual-Band Wireless Router | up to 1.5 Gbps Speeds: This router is a budget-friendly choice that still offers decent Wi-Fi 6 performance for your home network. It has a dual-band design that supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies, with a total bandwidth of up to 1.5 Gbps. It also has four external antennas that provide a good coverage area and reduce interference. It has one gigabit WAN port, four gigabit LAN ports, and one USB 2.0 port for sharing files and printers. It supports basic features such as MU-MIMO, OFDMA, Beamforming, and WPA3 security. It has a web interface and a mobile app that let you easily set up and manage your network. This router has received good ratings from customers who liked its affordability, simplicity, and performance. These are the main differences between these three routers: - The TP-Link Archer AX3000 is the most expensive but also the most powerful router of the three, offering the best Wi-Fi 6 performance and features. - The NETGEAR Nighthawk AC1900 is slightly cheaper but still very capable router that supports the Wi-Fi 5 standard and offers fast and reliable wireless performance. - The TP-Link Archer AX1500 is the cheapest but also the least powerful router of the three, offering decent Wi-Fi 6 performance but with fewer features and ports. I hope this helps you make an informed decision about which router to buy for your home network. Removed Comment <Edit> Whoa, didn't mean to spark this level of heated comments. To be clear, I use Proton Mail as my daily email and really enjoy it. Apparently the popular sentiment is that Proton Mail is a perfectly respectable and trustworthy service. I have no hard evidence to the contrary. I suppose the intent of my comment was: don't do illegal/immoral things, but especially don't expect Proton Mail to protect you if you are doing illegal things. Based on popular sentiment, it seems I'd be best just deleting this comment, but in the interest of ensuring complete records, I'll leave it up. Lol, bring on the downvotes. </Edit> Don't have any real evidence to substantiate this, but I've heard there's some indicators that Proton is a honey pot for the feds.
