They don’t really support Linux. We just got a “new” VPN client, which is incredibly bare-bones.

One would think a company built almost entirely around privacy would want to support the most private OS but I guess it doesn’t pay too well.

I completely agree. But last time I said that on reddit I was downvoted to hell. I said that there are a lot of Linux users on Proton, we are not the 1% in that case. There are more Linux users than Mac users! Nevertheless, I’m still waiting for a Linux version…

They have a business to run. How many of their customers run Linux vs Windows or MacOS?

They did a poll on Twitter. Aboit 40% users use Linux.

That is exactly the point. The Linux userbase is generally more privacy oriented and thus available on Proton‘s channels, be that Twitter, Reddit or here.

However that doesn‘t mean that in the global numbers of >100m accounts there are that many Linux users. There it is indeed < 1%. Without offense, Linux users are a vocal part but in the big picture a minority.

That doesn‘t mean there won‘t be a Drive Linux client. It just means different priorities in releasing for in advantage for the bigger platforms first.

Here it is!

32.6% use Linux, even more than MacOS! PS not sure why the “it is” appears twice in the above link…

@hydration9806 @akilou this is a little biased though. It’s assuming most Proton users are on X. Is it though?

Then the question is, how many Linux users are off X. If they use proton I guess they care about privacy, which means they are more likely not to be on a capitalist social - more so one ran by Musk: the percentage of Linux users using proton products may be even higher.

@helenslunch @akilou sure… and we don’t have to be their customers. Free markets are awesome that way.

I understand that, it’s just not in line with their stated goals.
