I have used StandardNotes until recently. Unfortunately I had to change because I want to collaborate and share notes with my SO. If SN gets that I will probably move back as I already am using other proton services and I prefered using SN. I will continue to pay attention to your progress going forward!

Curious what you use right now for notes with your SO? Similar situation here and currently sharing a Notesnook login, which is less than optimal.

Joplin, not as good as SN or Notesnook, but has collab

I really hope as a Proton Unlimited subscriber I’ll have access to the full version of Standard Notes eventually, like what happened with Simple Login. Although it’s clear that they used the SN acquisition to launch Proton Docs or whatever it is, which I appreciate although I don’t use, I’d love to switch from Obsidian to SN. Just need access to the markdown functionality.

I was hoping for the same, but this announcement makes me think that won’t happen.

What makes you think that? I’d assume such an announcement would come from Proton not Standard Notes. As like a, “hey, here’s more value from your subscription” kind of a thing. I don’t think it would cost them any more to offer it. Especially since it’d use Proton Drive to sync.

It reads to me like “hey we’re still working on stuff here, please subscribe!”. If it were to be merged with Proton I’d expect silence and no changes.

Can you log into Standard Notes with a proton account? Or do I need a separate account?

Separate account.

I really do hope the ultimate subscription will include Standard Notes in the future.

They are not really saying much about their plans for Standard Notes though.

I guess getting them up to par with Proton in security is a good step towards integrating the services.

Have you tried Proton Docs? While not the exact same thing as Standard Notes, the editing and history seems to be quite similar. All “notes” files are stored in Proton Drive too.

Or are there other features in Standard Notes not to be found in the Proton suite?
