Hello, previously I had the simple contact app but my phone was stolen and I lost all my contacts. Do you know a privacy friendly contact app that I can synce with cloud ?

I have a Tab - Nextcloud account. There is a contact feature on the web interface but no mobile app… Thanks

Just confirming what some others said. Basically I have a Nextcloud setup where I sync all my devices though Nextcloud and can see Calendar, Contacts, and Tasks on Nextcloud, Android, and Linux (though this side could have been Windows for example).

The software I use for this is Open Sync on Android. This is a free fork of DavX5 which like others said also should also work. Then I just use my stock calendar, and contacts app, but I use OpenTasks for my tasks. On the other end I also sync with Thunderbird on Linux and can see my calendar, contacts, and tasks.

Little techie to all setup just because of all of the components. But otherwise works well.

OpenTasks: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.dmfs.tasks

Open Sync: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.deependhulla.opensync

NextCloud Contacts supports syncing using the CardDAV standard. iOS supports this natively and it can be used on Android with the DAVx5 app. There are also desktop apps that support it as well such as Thunderbird.

I used to use Etesync (fdroid) but left in favor of a quarterly backup of my contacts vcf file via syncthing.

What do you use to backup the .vcf file?

I just export the .vcf from the contacts app into my documents folder and syncthing backs it up to my computer

What contacts app?

Mine doesn’t work, i am on official lineage and it doesn’t have this feature.

I use the contacts app built into lineage. Tap hamburger menu, tap settings, tap export

In case you or OP uses nextcloud, the nextcloud mobile app has the option to backup contacts automatically too

I’m using DAVx which is available on F-droid. syncs contacts and calendar with nextcloud.
