yea they said 45 days for them to get it to me. like how long does it take to scrape some files from your database?

holy shit, I just checked, and this is ridiculous! my web browsing data, app usage AND FUCKING LOCATION??? I hope that between using a VPN 99% of the time and graphene os I stopped most of that, but come on! how is this shit legal?

I just requested a copy of all my data, curious what they have on me. would be funny I’d there was a constant stream of data until the day I switched to graphene, where it drops off to none lol

can’t install graphene until my carrier unlocks it. only temporarily using pixel os

I already use graphene normally on my old pixel

not gonna set it up, as I won’t be staying. I already use 99% foss

so im basically stuck on pixel os for 3-5 days. im purposely not setting up my phone, just installed frdoid and qksms, might add fennec, but thats it. declined everything during setup, but theres definetly more i can do

make google pixel as private as possible
ill intall graphene os, i just need my carrier to unlock it first. for now though, what can i do to make it as private as i can?

I’d start by installing the apps you’re familiar with (even non Foss ones) then moving to Foss app by app. its a lot easier to get used to one thing at once. that being said, graphene and pixel os are both android, so they’re really similar. and the web installer makes it near impossible to mess up

buy it from monero.com? redirects me to guardian

Most private crypto wallet?
The whole point of me making certain payments with crypto is for it not to be attached to my name. obviously the crypto service company has my cc details. whats the most privacy friendly one? ty :)

so $1 a year would cover it? might as well covery whole family at that point. think I can afford $5 a year lol

does anyone know roughly how much operating costs could be per person? I’d like to donate, but I don’t have a whole lot of money. I’d like to at least ensure that I’m covering “my share” so to speak

would be nice if privacyguides.org added gps/napping to their website

yeah hard to beat how much data they have

how is it with data collection? that’s my main issue

yeah it seems to be the best. kinda shit but I’m willing to lose some functionality to not have google

google maps alt?
there's osm, but that doesn't have the convenience of being able to just chuck in a place and have it tell me how to drive there, which I need if I'm at a red light and need to know how to get somewhere. ty :)

well I don’t have to do work bc I can just use a free online tool. I was just hoping to not have to upload them to some random ass website

missing just a lot of little features I’ve grown accustomed to. biggest ones I can remember are the tiny weather widget and the thing where the display doesn’t turn off if ur looking at it. also the UI wasn’t all that great imo

I remember now, what pushed me all the way away was my bank app not working

Is there any recource for a compilation of privacy focused alternatives?
Whether it be third party clients (like we used to have Infinity and Apollo and what not for reddit) or separate services, like ddg or firefox for web, kbin or lemmy instead of reddit. right now looking for snapchat alternatives, preferably a different client if at all possible. thanks guys :)

i agree that iphones just work. i just value customization a ton more. custom apks (cant get youtube revanced on ios) and whatnot

proton drive is what i ended up doing. turns out i had literally one important document in docs lol

fuck iphones. paying more to get a worse device? no thanks

i mean i use a Google pixel, so it’s a bit tough to run away from google lol. but I’m doing my best

tying to move as far away from google as possible. recommendations?
I've switched to Firefox, proton mail and calendar, but what about google docs and drive? ty guys
