You can add any filter list you want to it. You can also use GreaseMonkey user scripts.

I still prefer Mull, but I keep Cromite installed

With RethinkDNS you can block an app completely, allow the app (WiFi, cellular, or both) and block certain domains. You can also use DNS block lists, force or exclude apps from either VPN or Orbot. Block apps not in use, block when DNS is bypassed. A bunch more stuff.

It’s an interesting thought isn’t it? In a post scarcity Culture would privacy be important?

Cash only. I need very little in life other than food and clothing. I changed countries, which makes it easier, though paying by phone is very much becoming a thing.

I have no interest in being known for anything, my life is simple but not easy. The more I am off the radar the less I have to interact with others. That works better for me than being in the midst of things. Different use cases.

ETA : I donate to FOSS projects I use, for that I find someone (never the same person twice) and pay them to donate to the developer. That is about my only outside expense.

Different use cases, for you it is important, for some others not so much.

I have not had a bank account or credit card in ten years. Losing tap to pay would be less important than losing a pube hair to me.

Yes it does, it works with or without encryption

But it’s so much more than that. It’s a privacy nightmare in general and a boon for anyone interested in blackmail.

Totally gonna work this time though.

Such a complicated series of tubes, ye olde internet.

Madzikanda had used his work laptop for personal activity, including saving his passwords for online banking, emailing from his personal account and accessing his online cloud storage.

Work device, work stuff

Personal device, personal stuff

https://rethinkdns.com/ pick from a set list, Tracking, Malware etc. or pick individual lists i.e. just Facebook.

‘Rethink DNS supports over 190+ blocklists, some of which power popular adblockers like uBlockOrigin.’

I am always on the lookout for a good search engine, so far SearxNG is the best for me.

I have not used Next DNS, before RethinkDNS I was using Invizible Pro.

Though access is limited, they do have the tech thanks to their friends to the north. I can’t find the link, but they have their own Great Firewall implementation

I’m using the https://rethinkdns.com/ app, which also gives me a firewall. You do not have to use the app though, you can configure a set of blocklists through their webpage, then add that to Private DNS.

Edit:word

You can do DNS based blocking on mobile, I’m doing it right now.

That is completely false. A few years ago they floated the idea of on device scanning, after pushback they decided not to do so.

I believe that you are thinking of Google, who does not do on device scanning either, but will happily contact law enforcement if you send photos of your own child, for medical reasons via their services. They will also suspend all your accounts with no appeal.

In any case, neither your answer, or my reply have anything to do with the original post.

I am not a fan of Brave, however that seems like bs . Brave started their own index in 2021 and Here is their blog post saying ’ Every Web search result seen in Brave Search is now served by our own index.’ From April of this year.

This article and a few others are based on This report from Mozilla. It’s nice to see some major news sites picking up on this.

I do not mean this in a snarky way, everyone has their own priorities. I don’t use location for anything. If I did, having to wait would be an inconvenience.

And of course, even on WiFi ‘Google retains a detailed map of known Wi-Fi networks and access points. By knowing the exact location of these networks, and your proximity to them, its location services can gauge your location with roughly 30 feet of accuracy.’

Quote is from a Future Tense article from five years ago. https://slate.com/technology/2018/06/how-google-uses-wi-fi-networks-to-figure-out-your-exact-location.html

Towers can still track you by the IMEI number.

One of the suspects in the Bali bombings was caught because while they frequently changed Sims, they didn’t change devices. They were tracked by the IMEI.

There is a previous post Here .hopefully the link works, first time trying it, and I have had issues following other links in Jerboa
