I have a self-hosted Nextcloud instance, but I don’t expose it to the internet, so I use Proton Drive if I need to share files with other people. I use self-hosted Immich to sync my photos from all of my devices.
I used to do that before, but work profiles on Android 14 kinda suck, so I am trying out Aliucord right now, so far I’m pretty happy with it
Just installed Aliucord, I’m pretty happy with it so far
Have you tried all of GrapheneOS’s first steps for maximizing app compatiblity?
Why would Signal stop accepting European phone numbers? It’s not like they want to leave the EU, they can just continue offering their services to EU users, but they can’t have servers or offices or any legal entities in the EU if they get banned. That’s not such a problem, you can access Signal over the internet from anywhere in the world, and if EU states start blocking Signal, you can still use Signal TLS proxies, good old VPNs or Tor. Edit: Signal is also banned in Iran, but they of course accept Iranian phone numbers, as they don’t impose the ban, the Iranian government does. You don’t really have to worry about this, I’m sure Signal will do everything in their power to continue to operate, even in jurisdictions in which it’s banned.
I use Vanadium for high-security tasks, but Mull is my default browser for standard browsing. It has better privacy, because it has built-in anti-fingerprinting mechanisms and you can actually install proper adblockers like uBlock Origin. Also, I don’t want to support Google’s monopoly on browser rendering engines by using a Chromium-based browser, so I prefer Mull which is based on Gecko.
A few of those are not shown on the picture, but this is my personal list of favorites:
It’s just the best, most private and secure mobile OS.
End-to-end encrypted messenger with great history and track record
A Firefox-based browser with out-of-the-box privacy improvements and pre-installed ad-blocker
Firefox for Android with privacy improvements
Self-hostable meta-search engine
Proxy for Google search
Private YouTube frontend
Piped client for Android
End-to-end encrypted notes app
Good 2FA app for Android
Secure, FOSS password manager
Edit:
Private DNS service with customizable filters
Email aliasing service allowing you to create a new email address for every service you want to sign up for
I meant Cloudflare DNS, I don’t understand why Firefox uses Cloudflare DNS when there are so many other great options like NextDNS. The reason why many people in the privacy community dislike Cloudflare or CDNs in general is because they are often hostile to VPN or TOR users, and they centralize the web.
That’s cool, thanks!
